December 22, Paul Gallen will return to the ring for the first time since his devastating loss to Justis Huni in June. This time around, he will take on former Manly and Parramatta forward Darcy Lussick. Gallen was originally scheduled to fight Manly forward Josh Aloiai on December 10, but Aloiai was forced to withdraw after contracting COVID-19. All the action will be available to watch on Main Event through either Foxtel or Kayo.
Stepping in at the last minute, Lussick hasn’t had as much time as Gallen to prepare for the fight. Despite only having fought in one professional fight to date, he stunned fans with his knockout win over Broncos star Justin Hodges in the first round. Gallen’s fight with Aloiai was set for six two-minute rounds, but the new fixture will have three two-minute rounds.
“I feel good, I’m definitely ready,” Gallen said. “It’s been a long preparation, postponed and everything. I’m ready, I’ve really clicked into gear the last couple of weeks. I was pretty passive when Darcy was announced a month ago.”
Also featured on the card is Olympic bronze medallist Harry Garside in his pro debut.

The pair made their bout official after weighing in on Tuesday, with Gallen coming in at 101.62kg, nearly nine kilograms lighter than Lussick’s 110.06kg.
Gallen promised to ‘smash’ his rival during a weigh-in that exploded into life as Joey Leilua promised his opponent Chris Heighington, “I’m f***ing going to take his head off his shoulders.”

The 40-year-old was due to face Josh Aloiai until the Sea Eagles prop contracted COVID-19, seeing Lussick step up on short notice.
Initially set for Newcastle on December 10, the entire double-header has been moved to Sydney and will run over two nights - December 21 and 22.
Now labelled 'Xmas Bash' the event will feature a host of big names from both boxing and rugby league.

Night two, headlined by Gallen vs. Lussick, as well as the professional debut of Olympic medallist Harry Garside, will be a pay-per-view event, broadcast live on Foxtel's Main Event.
